To the Editor:
A public thank you to the owners of Five Star Jewelers in Burke. Over the holidays, I was on my way to the Burke library, when I tripped over the uneven cobblestone near the entrance to the library. In addition to skinning my knee, elbow, and hand, my watch flew off my wrist. First, I hobbled into the library to wash myself off, get some Band-Aids, and tell the staff about the hazardous entryway.
Next, I retraced my steps in search of the pin to my watch, which was like looking for a needle in a haystack. By a stroke of luck, however, I found it.
Instead of going directly home to care for my wounds, I headed straight for Five Star Jewelers on Burke Center Parkway, where I have always purchased batteries and pins for my watches. I explained what had happened, and as always, Mr. Fitzkee dropped what he was doing to accommodate me. Mind you, I am not much of a jewelry wearer, and have never purchased more than watch pins and batteries at this store. Yet the owners never fail to give me immediate and caring attention. In commenting about this to another customer in the store, I learned that Helen and Toby Fitzkee treat all their customers this way, which is no doubt, a testament to their success.

Just a note to let you know I appreciate the efforts you put into making my Tanzanite ring. It is absolutely beautiful, and I have received many compliments on it. I won't hesitate to refer people to you do to your kind and personal.
